Hey y'all,

We're back and despite winning the crowd over pretty well, the judges did not dig the avs experience.  That's cool though, one of the bands was so pissed about not winning that they threw a cup of water at the judges and started a really heated confrontation.  It was intense.  Anyways here's who's representing ontario www.myspace.com/thehooliesnatch, the second band i don't know if they had a myspace but they definately deserved their second place for sure, and then the third place was http://www.myspace.com/bordertown.

There were quite a few decent bands that I and everyone else would have picked over that first place band, but that doesn't really matter.  It was fun, but even if we won i still DEFINATELY would have rather got the money to spend rather than to go there if we were allowed to just take it. it was very poorly organized... in addition to there being no advertising, you can only access the bar through a place called the urban pub, which was closed, and had all of it's lights off, all but one of like 8 doors locked, and no sign saying the bar was open as well as no one doing the door, without the bands, there was definately less than 100 people that came.  The funny part is that we got double the amount of money to go to toronto than the winner from toronto gets to go to edmonton (they get a $1000 budget, sucks really bad for them, that's like lucky enough to cover the cost of gas maybe?). Each of the 10 entrants paid $250, so that means that it cost $1500 to put on a show that wasn't even advertised.

hahahahah bordertown. that band is a piece of shit. i saw them so many times cause they used to play with my friends bands back in london then i saw them again at this battle of the bands thing on march break. they basically play exactly the same music they did 5 years ago. one of their songs was entitled "skate star". yeeeeea brah! and they also said they were "way stoked" to be playing the show and that the crowd was "super rad". i hate bands that basically get on stage and make fun of themselves with how pathetic they are.

Well, I'm glad you got the chance guys, but it sucks about the event and outcome.  Canadian Music Explosion?  Sounded like more of an implosion to me.  Live and learn I suppose.

It sucks to have a panel of judges determine X being better than Y.  You'll still knock em dead on your x-Canada tour!

Cheers.
