Not only is August the month for WAR ON THE SHORE but its also going to showcase a couple other great shows.

We havent had a lot of great metal through town this summer for one reason or another but this show will more than make up for it. I know alot of you havent heard these bands but TRUST me when I tell you that these are a couple of the best bands to come through in a long long time. This show is going to be fucking unreal. I tried to get em for war on the shore but the schedule wouldnt allow but theyre gonna play their own show.

AUGUST 9th LIVE AT THE APOLLO
AUGURY - www.augurymetal.com  -  www.myspace.com/auguryelfe
QUOVADIS - www.quovadis.qc.ca
with
THE CERASTINE ORDER - www.hateeternal.com/cerastine
BLOODPOOL - www.soundclick.com/bloodpool
and more

These are 2 of the most popular bands in what is one of the most popular scenes for extreme music in the whole world and by that I am speaking of Quebec. These bands are worth everyones time.Even if you dont like metal and you just want to see some stellar and near perfect musicianship then this show is for you.

There is at least one website for every band on this show so there is no reason everyone cant go check all the bands out. They all have mp3's available on their sites. This will be a night to remember and a show that every metal listener and musician needs to attend.

AND for those 19+ there is a second show on August 9th which isnt really metal but it sure is drinkin music. THE ILLUMINATI will be in town. This band fuckin rules. Fast, angry, dirty rock n roll with hints of stoner rock and so much more. If you wanna come just to see the rock show we will start cover for it at 10pm and if youre 19+ and you already paid earlier in  the evening for the metal show and wanna stay for the rock show then its only $2.00 to see a whole new show...

AUGUST 9th LIVE and LATER AT THE APOLLO
THE ILLUMINATI
FROM FICTION
with
ROCK TRUCK
SPEEDWAY

WHAT AN EVENING!!!!!!

Ok, rarely do I come out of the woodwork to put my stamp of approval on something, but this is going to be a real treat. Augury can only be summed up as ecclectic; they're all over the place in a fucking awesome way. Think old school progressive death metal in the vein of Cynic, Athiest, and Human-era Death, mixed with Opeth and other prog-influences, as well as gothic and opera (they have a chick singer who does opera vocals on top of this). They're fantastic and I don't think Thunder Bay has ever seen anything like them, they'll be a nice change from all the metalcore that seems to be so trendy and popular these days. I like Quo Vadis too, they're in a lot of the same progressive vein, but you can tell where my bias is.

Come to this show, it is definitely going to be something unique. And check out the bands mp3s, they're both of pristine production and performance.

Yep , this show will definately be something to remember. But like ive said before, this town needs more real metal heads that have a hunger for going to see new bands and such. I truly hope the metal shows this month will end up drawing some people since there hasnt been very many metal shows this summer.

Here are some f the great metal shows this month at the Apollo

AUGUST 9th - AUGURY, QUOVADIS with Cerastine Order, Bloodpool and more

AUGUST 11th - Chuck Norris CD release party with guests THE HOLLOW

AUGUST 12th - THE HOLLOW with guests

AUGUST 26-27th - WAR ON THE SHORE!! www.war2005.cjb.net for all details.

These are only a few of the great shows coming up. There will be plenty more coming and a HUGE one coming up in NOVEMBER. Please note that the Cryptopsy/suffocation/despised Icon show is NOT NOT NOT confirmed and might not happen at all if they opt for a more profitable route under the lakes but as of now if been asked to put a date on hold so stay tuned,

Aug 9th is  gonna be a kick ass night. Quo Vadis, Cerastine order, Speedway and the ILLUMINATI . Better put on my boots and get laced for this one.

Gotta take a little bit from my drinking money and pick up The Chuck Norris disc on the 11th though. Should be one tuff album.

Is Augurys drummer the same drummer that was touring with neuraxis when they came through last?

If you think the promoters and shows going on are so terrible, why don't you stop bitching and whining, and do the show yourself.

although it would be nice to see some punk shows.
you just gotta be patient, eventually we'll get some.
i think the promoters aren't doing that bad of a job, i've seen a lot of different bands there from different "genres"
this still sounds like a rad show
but bah! only 10 more months till i'm 19
oh well
