There has been a change regarding venues at the TokyoPop+Shock....is everyone sitting down, Jack's has unfortunately closed, we hope this will be temporary, but as of the forseeable future short, long, hard to say? Apparently they had some back taxes owing and this effects their liquor license, without a license, well nothing, their plan is to restructure and re-open when things are back in order. It's too bad, but does show the downtown bars/business are in need of more support and hope we don't lose anymore.
So what is going to happen is that we are going back to a two bar venue event-[BLACK PIRATE PUB+KILROY'S], how TokyoPop+Shock actually started, which is actually better with two venues for this event as it is smaller than Halloween, then you have more audience for all the acts and not stretched out over three bars. Unfortunately we will have to cut a few bands as we cannot accommodate all the acts. The bands that are cut will be ensured of performing at The Hunger Halloween event. So hopefully we have the new schedule up tonight. Suit up! it's going to be an amazing night of music, superheroes vs manga/cosplay/anime and performances, it will be wild pow!.... bam!..... fun!
PS....Someone did an amazing job of postering this weekend in which they totally covered everyones posters in the Bay St. and Downtown area, of course obliterated all our posters...THANKS! very professional! I guess there are no rules to postering anymore, very sad!

There is an amazing blending and mashup of the best bands around, genres and order be damned, there will be an explosion of super glee on everyone after this party is over, but first you must get to the event ....early and you even get Sushi, however quantities are limited...get there early. I am sure there is going to be some awsome costumes out there, or so I have heard, I am so looking forward to this. We had a preview of the Dahab Belly Dancing performance at Urban Infill on Wednesday night and if you missed that, well it was crazy good....Dahab was hotter than hot! she is ultra amazing, a definite must see-[from Los Vegas]. Tokyopop+Shock is a fast-paced, funny, blood-and-guts action-adventure romp with all kinds of amazing performances and the best music available It's a wild ride!! You may not have superpowers whatsoever, just the determination to don a mask and a uniform, maybe a little duct tape all to KICK-ASS at partying! So you shall! Multipass's will be available at the door with all times and locations.

Tokyopop+Shock was fast-paced fun, blood-and-guts action-adventure romp with all kinds of amazing performances and the best music available....what a wild ride and a huge thanks to everyone who performed, I heard nothing but extreme goodness and a big thanks to everyone who came out for all the fun. There was definitely a good vibe out there and people literally swarming between the two bars, that was great to see, and some super amazing and sexy costumes, some very creative people out there and they definitely made the whole experience that much more fun and once again these fundraisers really helped out Definitely Superior Art Gallery, a charitable, non-profit organization in order to continue our high level of arts programming in the realm of multi-disciplinary contemporary arts and supporting the artists who produce it in the region.
Sorry it took a while to post this as we had numerous venues to clean up downtown after the Tokyopop+Shock, not just the bars but 3 other empty retail spaces we had taken over for Urban Infill-Art In The Core and literally hundreds of artworks to return to the artists. It has been very exhausting, but well worth it when you see the professional talents and the multi-disciplines of art and performance presented in alternative places, felt like some much larger urban centre for a little while, it definitely brought spring in a most explosive and performative way! We will do this once again in 2011 around the same time. Things are changing...artists are here to make sure nothing stays the same... and we are here to support those changes through new and exciting contemporary art endeavors.
There was a little less people than last year, we estimated about 525 people between the two bars which is exceptional when you think about it, but approx. 75 less than last year and we kind of figure or heard as well that it may be directly due to Jack's being closed. There are people who actually only go to Jack's or feel comfortable there and probably some confusion may have entered the picture as with anything changing, it throws people off. Definitely more than enough between the two bars, that is a super big party, when you consider on average a good event at a venue is something around 150 people this was 3.5 times that good event, making it...well, a super event. I know photos are flying around and will be posted soon as well, some incredible shots of the evening. I really enjoyed all the performances and all the people. We have events coming up this summer stay tuned, especially...Bay Of The Dead August 7
