THE HUNGER V.666-HALLOWEEN XTREME EVENT-FEATURING: 46 PERFORMANCE ACTS-38+LIVE BANDS/DJ'S-6 BAR VENUES-BLACK PIRATES PUB-JACK'S-KILROY'S-THE SOVEREIGN ROOM-CROCK'S+HELL*! SATURDAY OCTOBER 29@8PM-19+EVENT-ONE COVER OF $10 GETS YOU INTO ALL 6 VENUES-©

So....that was an epic/insane/ultra fun event, like a multi-layered cake...yum! ...we are all still uber zombie like tired,  finally have a little time to communicate. A big thanks to all the musicians/artists/performers/volunteers who put in all their talents and time into such a big cohesive art ball, because that is how an event like this can succeed, with everyone pulling in one direction and it worked. Last year the event grew to 2,150 people at The Hunger V.5 and thought wow! This year we increased the number of venues from four to six, basically to spread out the goodness and aleviate some of the crowding and possibly draw in a few more numbers, the event kind of went supernova party time as the numbers actually spiked once more and increased to an astounding 2,600 in attendance-remember this includes all musicians/performers/artists/volunteers and sponsors of which there was approx. 200 We hope everyone had super amounts of fun, an amazing amount of some of the best costumes I've ever seen and that is a big part of the fun...every person is participatory...active not passive which results in even more fun. 2,600 people means an incredible amount of audience...new audience for the musicians and performers as well as bar establishments and gives everyone an opportunity to see what is happening in their own city and discover what we already know...it's pretty happening! That was ARTISTS OCCUPY DOWNTOWN!

The success of this event definitely has helped a great deal, and we have everyone to thank for that! We look forward to next year and will work on some problems inherent to the event. Hope you had more fun than lines, I did hear feedback and noticed there was alot more movement between bars, the added venues and HELL allowed for better flow, definitely alot more capacity, so it worked and hope you got to see a lot of amazing bands and performances, it looked like there were a lot of smiles and glee out there!

The next show is coming...Definitely Superior Art Gallery and LU Radio 102.7FM  present-DERELICTE 4-at BPP Saturday January 21-Wearable Art/Fashion/Music/Performance-600+ people attended over the course of the night last year and this year is going to be bigger and better! Thanks everyone, you make this city much more livable, you make me want to stay! FUN and TALENTED YOU ARE! More talk soon.

You're support goes along way in helping the gallery develop the contemporary arts in Thunder Bay, This is who we are and what you support: Definitely Superior Art Gallery in Thunder Bay is Northwestern Ontario's leading edge and nationally recognized, charitable / non-profit, professional artist-run-centre and gallery for the contemporary arts, formed and directed by artists to support contemporary art and the artists that produce it. Incorporated in 1988, Definitely Superior operates as a distinct alternative to public art galleries, museums and commercial art galleries. Our mandate goes beyond presenting visual art exhibitions and extends into multi-disciplinary activities such as artist workshops and lectures, artists film/video screenings, media arts installations, off site public artworks and interventions, performance art, interdisciplinary art, contemporary dance, experimental sound/audio, music , youth art mentorship/education, literary events and book publishing. We work to provide and increase opportunities for research, production, presentation, promotion and dissemination of work by regional/national/international artists, and the payment of professional artists fees, while encouraging media cross-over and multi-media work. Definitely Superior's artistic endeavours are focused at the very nexus of creating new and experimental works, which are by their nature; research and development. Every year the gallery presents up to 50+exhibitions, events and activities, both in and out of the gallery, supporting as many as 950+ multi-disciplinary artists with a viewing and participating audience of 28,500, the majority being comprised of younger demographics. Viewed with envy by artist's world wide, our country's
network of artist-run-centres has been a major catalyst in the development of new and exciting contemporary visual arts in Canada. N-Gage art!
