You may think that Ian's post is pretty ridiculous, but I actually thought the very same thing. And am considering it. Voters are a fickle bunch. For the sake of your fathers chances, don't say any thing else stupid.

and what would classify as stupid exactly?  huh

Quite frankly your argument seems pretty odd. BTW just to check the validity of your argument, I looked back over the last two pages of comments ive made on tbshows and this was the only thread in which i made any mention of the election.

I totally forgot about all of this. I got caught up in a new guitar pedal and that took priority over running for mayor.

Unfortunately he didn't get his name in... would have loved to see Kev take one of the at large or ward spots!

okay..........

someone has to say it..

dude.

every time you post about your daddy it makes me want to vote for him less.
and there's at least 1 a day.

i really REALLY wanted to vote for ANYONE but Lynn Peterson, but i guess i'll just have to spoil my ballot.

Haha. When he votes for his dad and I vote for someone else it'll be like he didn't vote at all.

Quite the opposite... it makes my vote that much more important. Quite frankly I sincerely hope we get more than 38% turnout this time around, no matter who people are voting for.

but hey dude... knock yourself out man... I'm a big fan of democracy (and free speech...). If you get out and vote, thats something positive regardless of who you vote for.

I'd Say Hobbs won the debates, but it wasn't very hard to do. It's easy to tell everyone what they wanted to hear, and he was at the advantage because its easier to point out the flaws in someone's previous strategy than to have to defend yourself constantly like the mayor did. I'm pumped that since Pullia is running for mayor, that if he loses he'll be out of municipal politics for a year and wont be able to fuck things up. And that 4th guy doesn't even count as a candidate, i don't think he knows what the mayor does.

I think Burridge was more interested in getting a job than being the mayor.

It was interesting to see that some of the people going up to the mic for 'questions' had better-prepared speeches than some of the candidates.  It astounded me how many were unwilling or unable to follow the format clearly stated at the beginning, or to phrase their rant in the form of a question.

are you dumb?

gab already posted in this thread - 2 OTHER THREADS at OTHER TIMES that you mentioned your Dad.

I was out of town for the majority of August and I SWEAR that when i came back, i read at least 5 posts about your daddy and the election.
It's cool that you're excited by the possibility of your dad being mayor... but i really don't want to hear about it when i'm trying to look at FRIENDS opinions on the municipal election. I'm even playing a SUPPORT show for your father on Friday! Sure i don't agree with al of his politics, but most candidates are complete jokes, and I don't support another 4 years of Peterson.

I actually wish that some of the ward candidates were running for mayor....

Adam is right. Voters are a fickle bunch.

I found this page of candidates on the city of thunder bay page but  there is no link to their web pages or information on what they are gonna do for the city... nothing...

I bet they will do nothing for this city... all of them are just in for the pay check.... that is my guess.

I want to vote but I don't want to vote blind.

I know a lot of the candidates have websites... also some have facebook pages. Failing that, many have campaign offices. Its still a good way to get informed about a candidate.

And jeez you two... if its such a big deal I won't mention my dad. God forbid I get excited about being part of the campaign!

gab already posted in this thread - 2 OTHER THREADS at OTHER TIMES that you mentioned your Dad.

I checked those threads.  By the numbers, two is not bad, but they were pretty smarmy, which can make them noisome.

Personally, I thought it was kind of a dick move to cover the grounds of the debate with signage; it kind of impugns the reputation of the venue as neutral ground for the evening.  But it's a first-time candidate thing; last election, Wolfe spelled out his name in signs...

I dunno... i think its a wasted vote... my father is going to win.

Hubris is a major risk.  Thinking one can just coast through into power has cost many candidates many elections.

I bet they will do nothing for this city... all of them are just in for the pay check.... that is my guess.

It's not actually that much money.  If I remember it right, mayor makes $80k, which is less than most of the department heads,  some of the cops and some of the firefighters.  Councillor pays something like $26k, which would work out to $12.50/hr full time.  Most councillors have other jobs on the site.  Off the top of my head, on council right now there's a high school teacher, a principal, an accountant, a hairdresser, a bureaucrat, and a chiropractor if I'm remembering all this right.

I want to vote but I don't want to vote blind.

tbnewswatch has had some decent coverage, netnewsledger has had a couple articles, and the CJ usually does a couple pages of per-candidate coverage closer to the election day.

I have absolutely no information on the school board thing; I've been out of school for a long time and don't have kids, so am way out of date on any issues.  Does anyone know if I can leave that section blank without spoiling my whole ballot?
